Black Marlin
Some time ago, Bite Me Gamefishing was contacted by Peter Mumford, a regular Australian East coast black marlin fisherman who was looking for a week away with the family, but just as importantly, the chance to explore new waters in search of his favourite species, the black marlin. Peter had landed a number of huge fish (including granders) on the world famous black marlin fishing grounds of Queensland Australia and was looking to find a new fishery.

Ultralight Tackle Fishing
Nothing compares to fighting a gamefish on ultra-light tackle. When you are hooked up on 4kg line class to a little 10kg yellowfin tuna and the fish laughes in your face and peels of 200 yards of line, then you realise what its all about.

Popper Casting
We target the Bluefin Trevally, bigeye trevally and GTs with Daiwa threadline reels on Shimano T-Curve 50lb class Bluewater spin rods from both the inshore and offshore game boats. Common by-catch are red bass, narrowbarred (Spanish) mackerel and barracuda. GTs to 25kg and bluefin trevally to 7kg are common along the outer barrier reef. All are fantastic sport on medium tackle gear.

Deepwater Jigging
With 75 miles of outer barrier reef slopes, Kadavu Island offers a host of deepwater jigging opportunities for the jig and bottom fishing specialists. The outer barrier reef slopes plummet from the breakers down to depth of 1,000m within sight of the reef. These slopes are pristene and unfished by anyone but us.

Saltwater Fly Fishing
Deep mangrove bays, miles of fringing coral reefs, sandy flats in sheltered lagoons and 75 miles of Great Astrolabe barrier reef offer fly fishing anglers a range of habitats to hunt with the fly.
