The outer barrier reef slopes plummet from the breakers down to depth of 1,000m within sight of the reef.
These slopes are pristene and unfished by anyone but us.

We carry high speed Daiwa Saltists spooled with 50-80lb braid on Shimano T-Curve Deep Drop rods to fish the 80 to 150m contour lines for Amberjack, dogtooth tuna, GTs, black trevally, emperors, grouper, green jobfish, bream and deepwater snapper such as opakapaka.
The variety of fish species down there is huge.

 |
When bottom fishing with bait, your rod tip will be bouncing around in seconds and every fifth bite or so will all but haul you overboard when a big fish strikes. |
|
In good weather we can even run out to an offshore seamount that rises from a depth of 2,000m to just 145m.
Fishing here is extreme in every respect.

 |
We use up to 400g jigs and we recommend minimum line class of 80lb braid and use of a stand-up fighting harness. |
